Recovering and Looking Ahead
Hello subscribers,
It’s been a busy couple of weeks. The semester just ended with all the grading and follow-ups that requires, and I spent five fun but tiring days at the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor’s annual conference. It was a great time, but putting all that together, was a bit draining.
I wanted to share a post on the upcoming events and news related to my work on humor and all things related. I’ve a couple of books and anthologies coming out, which I will link below, as well as some events I am doing. So here’s a little self-promotion.
In about a month I am giving a talk on how you can boost your creativity and wellbeing at a local gym, Lark Fitness. It’s on Saturday, June 21st, beginning at 11am. The proceeds will be split among me, Lark Fitness, and a local charity.
My long-in-development book, “Humor and the Common Good” now has an official release date. I’ve the page proofs in hand, and now just need to create the index. Another new thing to learn!! The things they don’t teach you in grad school.
The anthology “Sacred Laguther” also has a webpage, but no release date, though I expect it in the fall. Should get page proofs soon. Again, another index to create.
The two other books, “Putting Humor to Work” and the much-delayed anthology “Thinking Through Memes” should publish in the fall of 2025 as well. Both of those have been accepted and I am awaiting page proofs and indexing. It’s been quite a year and a half of work. Probalby won’t ever reach that level of production again in my life, but I am happy to be where I am.
Of course, there will also be the regular posts from this substack to look forward to. Here’s to last half of the year.
